Anyone able to get this to work?

I go to run the file and I get

bash: ./mvdsv: No such file or directory

permissions are set as well

using mvdsv_0.27_Linux_GLIBC_2.3_i386.tar.bz2

Is it because my distro of ubuntu is running libc6 ? and not Glibc2.3?

Most likely the binary is not suitable for your system. It's better to compile you own binaries. Here's a quick howto:

http://www.quakeservers.net/files/compiling_qw_server_from_sources.txt

Note that you'll need Git to get the sources (sudo apt-get install git).

Thanks for your post, gave it a shot but however it gave me some "undefined reference" errors

Im guessing its some sort of bug with ubuntu that was never fixed

It seems like a compiler problem. Some libraries are probably missing. I don't know how to fix that and couldn't find a quick answer by googling. You could try asking at #qw-dev on QuakeNet.

Are you running 32 or 64 bit Ubuntu? I could probably compile the binaries for you.

64bit, i was able to compile fteqw-sv without problems.. weird.. =]

try nquakesv
it automatically installs your linux mvdsv server, 1 minute.
get it from www.nquake.com
